2012, a new year has started just a few short weeks ago. You can feel the buzz in the air. Everybody seems excited to be getting a fresh start. Just like every year.
As a personal trainer of course I hear a lot about New Years Resolutions. My opinion on it is somewhat different. I think new years resolutions are great. Great if you just need that extra bit of incentive to make a change or start on an endevour you were already making plans for . It’s good to have a start date, goal date, and all of the above.
I have a bone to pick with the kind of new years resolutions that start at midnight January 1st. Every year. Every year we decide that now we will make more money, eat better, go to the gym, and find our perfect partner, for those of us who are not lucky enough to already have found theirs.
Every year I watch people go and buy discounted gym memberships, sign a contract for a year, and then drop off the face of the earth, the gym, after two weeks out of lack of motivation, guidance, and accountability.
Every year I want to get on my soap box and shout out: ”People, get serious! Get with a trainer, even for a short period of time. ” You might pay more then for a monthly gym membership, but the results you will get are truly measurable. You can count on being set up for success by someone who cares for you to reach your goals. And you will learn techniques to sustain your new found levels of energy, health, and how to maintain the weight loss you are sure to experience.
So I say, where ever you are, whatever it is you want to achieve, find yourself a trainer, a person who cares, to get yourself set up for success this year. It takes 21 days to form a habit, and a minimum of six weeks to make it a lifestyle!
Make this Your Year!
